POSITION SUMMARY DEFINITION Under general supervision, to provide technical services, create and maintain an aseptic environment in compliance with the standards of the department POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be: Education: Completion of high school or equivalent. Associate Degree in the medical field preferred or specialized vocational training. Experience: Six months to one year experience preferred in a surgical setting in a surgical facility or from Armed Service. Licensure/Certification: BLS certification required. KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES Knowledge of: Hospital established policies quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures. Surgical instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment Pre-operative planning and aseptic technique. Ability to: Organize and prepare appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment. Identify the surgical instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
