Description Shift Type: Monday through Friday; 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the OR Tech provides essential environmental support including room turnovers, anesthesia supply management, and perform patient care activities. The OR Tech will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role in accordance with the standards of care of the facility, policies and procedures. GENERAL DUTIES: Assist with operating room turnover, cleans the operating rooms and surgical equipment as assigned after surgery using universal precautions according to the standards of practice. Daily setup of anesthesia machines and perianesthesia supply. Maintains records and reports as required. Cleans and prepares discharge units, makes beds, and reports availability of beds/units upon completion. Move furniture, beds, and other equipment as needed. Perform general cleaning duties to maintain the surgical suites in a clean and orderly manner. Collect soiled linens from the ORs and Preop/PACU areas. Communicates all pertinent information, including supply needs and equipment/facilty repair needs in a timely and effective manner. Assists with the stocking of supplies. Refill the blanket warmer and fluid warmer as needed throughout the day. Participate in staff meetings and trainings as appropriate. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of universal precautions, infection control and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and / or service. Demonstrates cost-conscious behavior with efficient use of resources. Performs other duties as assigned. PATIENT CARE DUTIES: Assist with patient positioning, lifting and/or transferring in perioperative area Assist with patient care as needed in PACU after OR cases are complete Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to patient and family rights, as identified by the hospital, and in compliance with HIPPA Understands the protocol for responding to emergency situations. Demonstrates proficiency with setting up medical equipment safely Assist with transport of patients after discharge as needed Observes and reports unusual situations, reactions, effects or conditions related to a patient's health and welfare in a timely manner. Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. One year of work experience in a medical setting; experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center is a plus. Medical Assisting Certification or CNA is a plus, but not required. BLS Certification or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days. Cooperative work attitude toward and with co-employees, management, patients, visitors and physicians, and ability to communicate with others effectively and respectfully. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
