POSITION OVERVIEW:

Providence Solutions is seeking an experienced Oracle Application Database Administrator (DBA) to support enterprise Oracle environments, including migrations, upgrades, and application sustainment. The successful candidate will manage application-specific database components, ensuring security, performance, and availability while collaborating with developers, architects, and system engineers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience administering Oracle databases with a focus on application DBA functions.
  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle Database upgrades (19c and beyond), APEX integration, and PL/SQL tuning.
  • Familiarity with RMF, DISA STIGs, and federal compliance frameworks (NIST, FISMA).
  • Hands-on experience with RMAN backup/recovery, performance monitoring tools (AWR/ASH, SQL Monitor), and CI/CD automation.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Oracle APEX application back-ends (page processes, Interactive Reports/Grids).
  • Knowledge of Oracle Spatial/Locator and generating geospatial/KML outputs.
  • Exposure to secure cloud environments (Azure/AWS Gov, IL4) and RMF-aligned delivery.
  • DoD 8570 baseline (e.g., CompTIA Security+) if performing privileged IA/IT functions.

Responsibilities
  • Administer Oracle database instances supporting packaged and custom applications, ensuring compatibility with enterprise environments.
  • Plan and execute upgrades of Oracle Database and Oracle APEX, validating application functionality and maintaining backward compatibility.
  • Apply security patches, CPUs, and configuration changes in line with DISA STIGs, RMF requirements, and corporate standards.
  • Monitor application-specific performance (SQL, PL/SQL, indexing, and partitioning) and implement tuning solutions for optimal responsiveness.
  • Support schema changes, stored procedures, and application-level objects to maintain functionality during migrations and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with developers to refactor PL/SQL logic and ensure stable integration between applications, middleware, and reporting layers.
  • Maintain configuration baselines, versioned deployment scripts, and rollback checkpoints across DEV → TEST/STG → PROD.
  • Document build guides, release notes, and operational procedures to support compliance, audit readiness, and cross-team knowledge transfer.
