ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR - AWS:

On behalf of our Professional Services client, Procom is searching for an Oracle Database Administrator - AWS for an 8 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.

ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR - AWS - JOB DESCRIPTION:

As part of the team, you’ll be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of Oracle database systems running on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The role involves managing database systems to ensure optimal performance and security, while also supporting migration projects from Oracle to other database systems like Postgres or NoSQL.

ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR - AWS - MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • 10+ years Oracle DBA hands-on experience in installation, administration, and troubleshooting of Oracle.
  • Experience with Oracle database systems on AWS.
  • Proficient in Terraform and Cloud Formation.
  • Strong AWS RDS (for Oracle) and IAM.
  • Experience with CloudWatch.
  • Scripting & Tools (Linux, Bash, Git, Liquibase, Flyway).

ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR - AWS – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

  • Experience converting Oracle to Postgres, or NoSQL.
  • Familiar with Oracle Table Partitioning Strategies and optimizations.
  • Multi Region Configuration on RDS with Golden Gate.
  • Experience with S3 buckets and CloudTrail.
  • Golden Gate Replication experience.
Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, maintain, and secure Oracle database systems on AWS aligning with best scalability and performance practices.
  • Leverage CloudWatch for real-time insights and proactive problem resolution.
  • Provide production operations support including incident resolution, change management, and service request management.
  • Perform database administration tasks, including installations, configurations, upgrades, and patching.
  • Conduct performance tuning of databases and queries, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
  • Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies using Data Guard and Golden Gate.
  • Utilize AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for migrating Oracle databases.
