WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Valid SC clearance from day one.
• Extensive experience with Oracle 19c (Dataguard, RMAN, OEM Grid) and/or SQL Server.
• Strong knowledge of Cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and database deployment in hybrid environments.
• A broad understanding of IT security best practices, particularly MOD standards.
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and deliver robust, secure database solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• A degree in a relevant IT discipline or equivalent professional experience (typically 5+ years).

YOUR NEW ROLE

As a Lead Database Administrator, you will take ownership of technically complex delivery and support activities across a wide range of business areas. You’ll lead the design, optimisation, and support of Oracle and SQL Server platforms across both on-prem and cloud environments (Azure/AWS), with a strong focus on resilience, security, and performance.You’ll also:

• Guide and educate others on database configuration and design.
• Drive capability building within the DBA team and lead support activities.
• Advise on emerging technologies and contribute to procurement decisions.
• Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with internal teams, government departments, and external suppliers, including Microsoft and Oracle.
