The ideal candidate will ensure the performance, integrity, security, and availability of our databases, working closely with development and infrastructure teams.Detailed Description Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software and related products (e.g., Oracle RAC, Data Guard). Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor database performance, perform SQL and PL/SQL tuning, and implement optimization strategies. Backup & Recovery: Develop, implement, and manage robust database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies using tools like RMAN. Security Management: Implement and enforce database security policies, manage user accounts, roles, and privileges, and apply necessary patches and updates. Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine database maintenance, including patching, cloning, and managing tablespaces. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly. High Availability (HA) & Disaster Recovery (DR): Configure and maintain HA solutions such as Oracle RAC and Data Guard to ensure minimal downtime. Capacity Planning: Monitor database usage, predict future storage and performance needs, and plan for capacity expansion. Collaboration: Work with application development teams to optimize database designs, queries, and stored procedures (PL/SQL). Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for database environments, configurations, procedures, and standards. Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Oracle Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Oracle Database architecture and administration (e.g., 12c, 19c, etc.). SQL & PL/SQL: High proficiency in writing, tuning, and debugging complex SQL queries and PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, and packages. HA/DR: Hands-on experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Data Guard or other high-availability solutions. Operating Systems: Strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting (Bash, Python, or Perl) for automation. Tools: Experience with Oracle's database management and monitoring tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, AWR, ASH). Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and effective written and verbal communication. Preferred Skills and QualificationsCertifications: Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM) certification. Cloud: Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other major cloud providers (AWS, Azure) and managing cloud-based Oracle databases. Other Tools/Technologies: Experience with GoldenGate, Oracle Multitenant (CDB/PDB), or backup tools like Data Pump. Methodology: Familiarity with ServiceNow change and request management Physical Demands Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment. Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required. Typical Experience Experience: 5 years of proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator in a production environment. Typical Education Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
