Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking an experienced Oracle PL/SQL/Apex Developer for a long-term contract position in Metro Atlanta. Under broad supervision, this role will maintain and troubleshoot applications, servers, and systems while implementing consistent procedures and standards for system maintenance in consultation with IS staff.
This position will specifically support Syndromic Surveillance (SS), a module built within the Georgia State Electronic Notifiable Disease Surveillance System (SendSS). SendSS is undergoing modernization, transitioning away from PL/SQL to the Oracle Apex framework. The selected developer will work closely with the retiring legacy developer of the SS module to fully understand the mechanics, assume ownership, support end users, and lead the redesign of the module within the Apex environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance applications and systems.
  • Work directly with the legacy developer to transition knowledge of the SS module.
  • Support public health staff using the Syndromic Surveillance system.
  • Redesign and implement the SS module within the Oracle Apex framework.
  • Develop and maintain web application front ends with HTML, JavaScript, and frameworks.
  • Provide full lifecycle support for web-based application development projects.
  • Ensure high performance, reliability, and compliance with standards.
