The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region. The Regional and Specialist team includes Integrated Specialist Services, Mental Health and Wellbeing Services, Primary Healthcare Services, Birthing and Early Childhood Services (South), and Child and Youth Services. Our purpose is to connect, guide, and empower teams and communities through culturally safe, transparent, and responsive ways. About the Role? The purpose of the Oral Health Therapist is to improve the Oral Health of the community through the delivery of quality dental treatment and support services. The position is responsible for working together with our dentists to provide routine oral health care for children and adults, and also help to promote oral health and preventive dental practices amongst the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Your day to day duties may include: Provide routine dental treatment for clients including dental examinations, diagnosis, scaling and polishing, restorations and extractions (within your qualifications and scope of practice). Treat clients for periodontal issues, X-rays, apply sealants and fluoride therapy, and take impressions for mouth guards. Promote oral health and preventive dental practices among clients (including children and adults in the local and broader community). Accurately document client files with treatment and medication information. Recording of statistics and maintaining computer systems required for efficient and effective management of clients. About You? Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) Current APHRA Current First Aid & CPR Certificates Bachelor in Oral Health (or similar qualification) Desirable, but not mandatory: Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities What Can we Offer?
