Backed by a fifth-generation family-owned company, Spicers is a leading distributor of commercial print and business papers, specialty products, graphic solutions, sign & display equipment and materials, and packaging and facility supplies and equipment.
We’re based in Vaughan, Ontario, with 15 regional locations that include custom manufacturing facilities in Edmonton, Toronto and Winnipeg, as well as cash and carry locations, product showrooms and equipment demo sites.
Spicers Canada ULC (“Spicers”) is currently looking for a Full-Time Order Picker located in our Calgary, Alberta location (hours of work 9am - 6pm).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a secondary school diploma or equivalent;
  • Minimum 1 – 3 years’ experience in an order picking role;
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written);
  • Valid forklift, order picker, and electric walkie certifications;
  • WHMIS and T.G.D. certifications;
  • Warehouse experience;
  • Fall arrest training and certification;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Self-directed with the ability to work well with minimal supervision;
  • Punctual, dependable, and reliable;
  • Basic knowledge of paper products; and
  • Computer literate.
Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager, the duties and responsibilities of the Order Picker include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Order picking:
  • Organizing pick sheets to minimize travel time;
  • Verifying product to pick sheet and retrieving product.
  • Wrapping orders when required;
  • Building stock on pallets in safe and logical manner;
  • Placing orders in correct staging areas;
  • Inputting information into the company computer system;
  • Assisting others as necessary (other warehouse members, customers, or couriers in call area, samples staff, etc.);
  • Communicating all shortages or discrepancies within an order to the Supervisor or Order Desk;
  • Responsible for the daily safety check of equipment for safe operation before order picking;
  • Following all health and safety procedures;
  • Ensuring all aisles are free from obstruction and that all strapping, shrink-wrapping, and empty boxes are cleared at all times; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
