Job DetailsJob Location: Northern California - West Sacramento, CA 95605Position Type: ExemptSalary Range: $79,666.70 - $83,699.83 Salary/yearPosition Purpose: Organizers train, develop and empower workers across the long term-care sector, including InHome Supportive Services (IHSS) homecare, skilled nursing home facilities, private homecare facilities and assisted living facilities to: Form, build, and grow their union Participate in their contract bargaining and representation Organize and mobilize around key issues, including rights and standards, political, legislative and policy goals. Develop their leadership potential SEIU Local 2015 organizers may be assigned to work with and on behalf of workers who are already in our local, or with and on behalf of workers who are in the process of building a union for the first time. Required Competencies: Adaptability to changing environments and ability to work under pressure Cultural competence to work with diverse communities Practices active listening and self-reflection in service of supporting a culture of learning Ability to work independently, organize their time, and demonstrate self-motivation Ability to hold oneself and one’s team accountable to commitments and outcomes Ability to think analytically and strategically, and contribute to campaign planning Demonstrated ability to meet membership and COPE recruitment outcomes Demonstrated ability to assess, identify, recruit, and develop workers as leaders Demonstrated ability to build worker organization (OC, CAT, etc) and lead teams of members Demonstrated knowledge of the long term care industry and labor laws Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a team Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate data on program or campaign area, and use data to guide decisions Effective oral, written and digital communication skills Computer and digital literacy relevant to the position Duties and Responsibilities: Independently manage assigned turf, including membership and COPE (Committee on Political Education) recruitment, leader and activist recruitment and development, conduct member trainings and meetings, and build and grow worker organization, including organizing committees, contract action teams, and other teams of workers who take action on our priorities. Lead teams of workers to achieve key strategic or campaign objectives. With guidance, develop and coordinate campaigns, programs, contract negotiations, elections and strikes. Train and assist other staff in organizing skills. Integrate politics, community relationships and organizing support into the daily work. Make, execute and evaluate strategic plans and daily, weekly, and monthly work plans based on assigned goals and objectives. Learn about how the long term care industry functions and is funded, the industry employers, and the role of the National Labor Relations Board and PERB plays in the industry. Demonstrate behaviors in line with Local 2015 Core values: leadership, compassion, empowerment, accountability, transparency and excellence. Other tasks and duties as assigned. QualificationsExperience and Education: 2+ years of experience in union or community organizing and representation.
