Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager of East Edmonton Urgent Care Clinic, the Orthopaedic Technician Certified / Licensed Practice Nurse (OTC/LPN) will work as an essential member of the team, caring for a variety of patients with varying acuity. The OTC/LPN role in UCC works to full scope of LPN practice and is responsible for planning, assessment, treatment and monitoring the care of the Orthopaedic and Urgent Care patients. The TOC/LPN works in a fast-paced urban UCC department and demonstrates the ability to prioritize well and work with a multi-disciplinary team. The OTC/LPN demonstrates ongoing professional development and occasionally engages the UCC department staff in basic orthopedic teaching. The incumbent is responsible and accountable to the public for his/her own practice according to the standards defined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients (clients, residents). You will observe, monitor, report and document changes in the patient’s physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe and effective, quality care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
