Position: Orthopedic Technician Department: Ortho/ Neuro Shift: 11PM-7:30AM/ Part-time/ 16 hours a wee/ 32 hours per pay period Facility: Miami Valley Hospital The Orthopedic Technician applies orthopedic treatment items/technologies to patients upon the order of a physician. He/She assists the physicians as directed and assists the Registered Nurse in the care of the orthopedic patient as requested. He/She acts as a resource for the entire facility regarding applied technologies as well as other orthopedic related concerns. He/She also serves to instruct patients and allied health care personnel in the use and care of applicable technologies. Functions under the supervision of the Manager of Orthopedic Services and the Orthopedic Technologist Supervisor. Under the direction of a physician, may function in an assistive or independent capacity. The Orthopedic Technician performs the duties described in all applicable clinical settings within the hospital in both inpatient and outpatient areas. The Orthopedic Technician is accountable to the Manager of Orthopedic Services and the Orthopedic Technologist Supervisor Education: High school graduate with one year additional formal course study in anatomy and physiology required. (3 years of experience as Orthopedic Tech will qualify the candidate in lieu of formal course study of anatomy and physiology.) Licensure: N/A Certification: Certification as an Orthopedic Technologist is considered as equal to the anatomy and physiology Requirement. Certification in CPR. Experience: Two years current experience in direct patient care, preferably in general or traumatic orthopedic treatment areas, is required. The preferred candidate will have current experience as an thopedic Technician. Previous experience with restocking and/or inventory control would be beneficial. Skills/Other: Good communication skills (oral and written) are considered essential. To independently function in this position requires three months on-the-job training, which is provided. An Orthopedic Technician must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
