Job Summary: Assists physician in providing patient examinations, procedures and orthopedic procedures. Assists physician in cleansing wounds, assists in reducing fractures, pin insertions and applications of surgical dressing. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: * High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required * Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred * Experience as a Medical Assistant (MA): Preferred Licenses/Certifications: * Orthopedic Technician certification: Preferred * Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred * Surgical Technician certification: Preferred Department Specific License/Certifications: * AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS: Required Essential Functions: * Assists the physician/surgeon with tasks related to bracing, splinting and casting and other procedures as needed. Responds to emergencies and other STAT requests. * Performs clerical duties. Consults with provider concerning procedures and patient condition. * Applies, removes and adjusts orthopedic devices (i.e. splints, casts, bandages and slings) under physician supervision/instruction. * Assembles/disassembles equipment and instrument ensuring that equipment is available for procedures and examinations. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
