The ORX News Research Analyst role is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to learn about operational risk and the financial industry. You will use your writing and analytical skills to understand complex financial concepts and write reports based on what you find on open media sources. You will use your data analysis skills using tools such as Excel and, where appropriate, SQL and R to analyse and visualise data to develop thematic reports based on loss events from our database. Where possible, you will be able to use your language skills to identify operational risk events in the international media. You will be working collaboratively with other News Researchers writing, editing, and tagging reports for timely publication on our website.
The ORX News Service is designed to provide banks and insurers with timely content, research and analysis on publicly reported events where financial firms have lost over $1 million due to certain failures, such as frauds and fines. The aim is to help other financial institutions avoid making similar mistakes and therefore avoid losing money.
Reporting to the ORX News Assistant Manager, the ORX News Researcher must be an effective communicator, with strong experience in academic/professional writing, research and data analysis. The role would ideally suit an individual with some knowledge and interest in finance, and experience in research and/or an academic setting who is looking to further their career in a collaborative yet dynamic deadline-driven environment.
