Job Description • Lead by example to foster a culture of safety within both Client and EPC Contractor teams, demonstrating a thorough understanding of HSE principles. • Ensure full compliance with all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements throughout all work activities, promoting a safe and healthy work environment. • Support the Area Manager in all delegated responsibilities pertaining to the Pipeline and Utilities team. • Immediately report or communicate any incidents occurring within the assigned area. • Monitor all construction activities within the area in accordance with project requirements and construction procedures, through to final system handover to the Commissioning team, with a particular focus on Company responsibilities. • Cultivate strong working relationships with the EPC Contractor for daily management and effective resolution of critical issues. • Facilitate the development and review of execution plans, method statements, and other relevant procedures to ensure alignment with project strategies and the safe, high-quality, and timely completion of works. • Maintain a visible presence on site to visibly demonstrate commitment to safety, quality, and construction oversight, enabling direct contact with Contractor and Subcontractor teams. • Review EPC Contractor construction progress, provide input to internal construction reporting systems, identify schedule deviations or risks, and propose appropriate mitigation measures to management and the EPC Contractor. • Assess current and anticipated issues, identify potential risks using technical expertise and experience, and propose or influence technical and organizational solutions, including the integration of lessons learned and best practices. • Oversee the physical execution of all phases, including precommissioning and the transition to commissioning activities, including during SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations). • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the EPC Contractor’s construction management processes. • Coordinate with quality department to oversee quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes to guarantee that all works meet the required standards and specifications. • Support the planning and execution of site emergency drills and participate in incident investigations as required. • Ensure proper documentation and handover of completed work packages and as-built records to the operations/commissioning Qualifications • Degree in Engineering or another relevant subject required with either an advanced degree or professional qualifications preferred. • Extensive Industry Experience: Minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience, with at least 5 years in a superintendent or equivalent leadership role overseeing multidisciplinary teams on large-scale projects. • Project Type Experience: Minimum 10 years’ experience on greenfield projects. Experience in LNG liquefaction (preferred), petrochemical, refinery, or gas processing/feedstock plants, and pipelines is essential. • Comprehensive Project Knowledge: Full understanding of areas critical to the success of large, complex projects—including safety, environmental management, work organization, scheduling, quality management, organizational competency, and reputational risk mitigation. • Leadership and Safety Culture: Demonstrated strong HSE culture and safety leadership. Proven ability to lead by example and foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement. • Communication and Decision-Making Skills: Effective communication and leadership skills, with the capability to influence critical decisions and foster collaboration among diverse teams. • Language Proficiency:Strong English written and verbal communication skills required. Proficiency in Portuguese or French is advantageous. • Regulatory and Standards Knowledge: In-depth understanding of international and construction codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., API, ASME, ISO, NFPA). • SIMOPS Experience: Demonstrated experience managing SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations) and complex commissioning transitions. • Documentation and Handover: Experience ensuring proper documentation, as-built records, and smooth handover of completed work packages to operations and commissioning teams Additional Information - Starting date: May 2026 - Duration : 12 months - Renewable: yes - Location: Afungi, Mozambique
