Prior local and state government years of service count toward calculating vacation accrual rate!  CHA is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented OSWW/Wells Program Specialist to join our team. This role involves performing site evaluations to determine compliance with criteria for permitting onsite wastewater disposal systems and/or private drinking water wells. The Specialist will also engage in surveillance, enforcement and public education related to health and sanitary programs.  Primary Responsibilities:  * Collect monthly activity codes from staff on a monthly basis for submission to the Assistant Director/OSWW Supervisor * Identify inefficiencies within the program and bring those topics to the Assistant Director/OSWW Supervisor for discussion and planning for solutions  * Work with Assistant Director/OSWW Supervisor in enforcing State QA program through Accela and in file review and field assessments * Evaluates land to determine suitability for installation of on-site ground absorption wastewater systems in accordance with 15A NCAC 18E * Evaluate sites for placement of private drinking water wells * Monitors the workload of the program and take strategic action when a three-week back log is exceeded * Assist Assistant Director/OSWW Supervisor with health reviews and subdivision reviews on Accela Education/Experience: Must have Registered Environmental Health Specialist credential. Must have OSWW/Wells authorizations and at least 7 years of experience in OSWW and Wells  License: Must maintain registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist by the North Carolina Board of Registered Environmental Health Examiners. Must maintain a valid N.C. driver's license. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  * Must be proficient in both written and oral communications * A high level of organization to relay technical concepts * Skill in writing investigative or narrative reports * Skill in obtaining cooperation from public and private sector personnel * Skill in using resource materials and libraries * Skill in creating, maintaining, and using files and public records * Knowledge of environmental investigations and regulation development * Skill in gaining voluntary compliance with regulations  * Commitment to Environmental Health field and profession Our Mission To improve individual and community health through services, education, and collaborative action.
