Description
As a member of a dynamic health care team, the Physiotherapist coordinates, assesses and evaluates patient care and provides physiotherapy care to meet the needs of patients. The Physiotherapist collaborates with interdisciplinary team members and community agencies in the provision of care and discharge planning for patients and their families. 1. Graduate of a recognized, accredited OTA/PTA Certificate or Diploma program from an approved community college 2. Demonstrated knowledge and 2 recent years therapeutic experience within the last 5 years in the field of neurological rehabilitation with populations such as Spinal Cord, Stroke, and ABI 3. Demonstrated knowledge and 2 recent years therapeutic experience within the last 5 years with clients who have had an amputation/musculoskeletal injury 4. Demonstrated knowledge and 2 recent years therapeutic experience, within the last 5 years, in the area of complex seating/positioning for adults 5. Demonstrated knowledge in safety procedures/protocols with patients 6. Demonstrated ability to communicate a clear understanding of the OTA/PTA role and OT/PT services to client/family/staff as required 7. Demonstrated sound professional judgment and initiative based on training and experience 8. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment 9. Demonstrated flexibility, communication, problem solving, organizational skills, conflict resolution skills and the ability to prioritize shared workload among many therapists 10. Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive bending, reaching, pushing, lifting and transferring using proper/safe body mechanics 11. Demonstrated computer skills in IWT, Microsoft office, Meditech (knowledge of ordering) 12. Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm in working with patients and their families 13. Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive work environment 14. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education/professional development and interest/commitment in supporting student educational opportunities
