We have an opportunity for an Occupational Therapy Student to join the team as a our Community Support Officer.

We are looking for an occupational therapy student, that has well rounded skills to form part of our community coach team as well as, support our team of occupational therapists with administration support.

Based in Castle Hill (NSW), Grace Children’s Therapy is an established practice, serving the Sydney Hills District for over 17 years.
We are looking for open-minded, creative, energetic, and innovative community coaches who will embrace the ethos of Grace Children’s Therapy and provide support as part of our Community Action Team as well as form part of our administration team. This newly formed program has been uniquely designed through a functional and engaging occupational therapy lens to enhance the experience and outcomes of the participants that attend our practice.
Within this role you will be assisting participants to work towards independence and feeling a sense of achievement, enjoyment and confidence as they are supported to learn and increase their participation.
Our Community Action Coaches work within our Community Action Program with the goal of providing support to the adolescents and young children within our service with the goal of providing community based coaching, working alongside our occupational therapist to facilitate opportunities and working towards meeting their goals. This could include coaching in the home, local community, shops, parks or playgrounds, attending our programs, or sporting and recreational venues.
When not working as a community coach out in the field, we will be utilising your administration skills to assist with supporting the team in the clinic completing administration tasks such as, invoicing, diary management and following up on service agreements.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • The ability to develop rapport with young children and teenagers.
  • Have the ability to communicate and work collaboratively with our occupational therapists, parents and care givers.
  • Have the ability to follow instructions and plans as set by the occupational therapist.
  • Be prepared and able to regularly review goals with the occupational therapist.
  • Be able to think flexibly and respond to the needs the client.
  • The ability to manage your time to meet the goals of the sessions.
  • Utilise our platform to ensure record keeping and notes are completed and accurate.
  • Be able to manage your time and be task oriented to ensure work is completed.
  • Have excellent computer skills and able to pick up using various platforms.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • This is a casual position
  • Must be available to work Saturday mornings until 1:30pm
  • You will be paid under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award.
