About the Role
BHP Technology is looking for multiple Trainee Operational Technology Specialists to join our site-based coal operations in the Bowen Basin. These roles will comprise a mix of site-based exposure as part of the Technology Site Operations maintenance team and be supported with external training with an RTO. As part of this traineeship, you will complete a Certificate 3 in Telecommunications Technology (ICT30519) and Open Registered Cabling Licence. The role is responsible for undertaking preventative maintenance and providing technical field support for a range of mine site Operational Technology Services. There are opportunities for roles at multiple sites with different operational rosters depending on site. The position is fixed term for 18 months with the possibility of ongoing tenure upon completion. Work with a team of highly skilled technicians to deliver a high performing technology

The traineeship program provides a unique career opportunity to gain skills, experience and exposure to a wide spectrum of technology systems including but not limited to:

  • (DRS) Digital Radio Systems i.e. Motorola P25
  • (FMS) Fleet Management Systems ie Minestar, Modular, (WTS) Wireless Telemetry System i.e. Rajant Breadcrumb, Cambium, LTE, Cisco, Autonomous Haulage (AH)
  • Physical Access Management System (PAMS), CCTV and Access Control Systems, Fixed Networks/Process Control/PLCs, Driver Safety Systems (DSS), Network and Server infrastructure

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Execute work orders as per schedule and/or directed by Supervisor and safely complete the relevant work instructions associated with the Maintenance Strategy.
  • Develop skills and knowledge through technology system fault finding activities.
  • Gain exposure to the broader mining business by working with stakeholders to deliver improvement initiatives
  • Validate quality of work performed prior to completion.
  • Complete work management processes during shift and update supervisor.

About You

  • Exposure to mining operations is not a requirement of this role. We strongly encourage people from who work in these fields outside of mining to apply.
  • A trade certificate in Radio Communications, Auto Electrical, Electronics, Electrical or a similar discipline would be highly regarded.
  • Desire to learn new skills and solve complex problems
  • Proven track record of Safety within an operational environment
  • Ability to interpret and read maintenance plans and technical information
  • An ability to prioritise effectively and execute tasks in a changing work environment
  • Proactively build and maintain relationships with customers/partners
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills
  • Australian C class driver’s license

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in industrial environments
  • SAP Work Management
  • Working at Heights, Confined Space and First Aid training
