Under the supervision of the Director of Child Care Services, the Out of School Time Educator plans and implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum geared to the needs of each child in his/her care/classroom/program, including the health & safety of the children and adherence to all YMCA Child Protection policies. Essential Functions: Supervise a group of children and program activities Follow all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law, the YMCA, all MA Departments of EE&C regulations; maintains the program site, equipment; and required program records Nurtures children through purposeful programming; plan activities that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes, are developmentally appropriate and are consistent with the Y's values. Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with youth; models relationship-building skills in all interactions Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child's needs and progress; connects families to the Y. Project a professional image, including a neat appearance, a positive manner and dependable attendance and be a role model for children families, and other staff. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience working with children (at least 6 months) required Must be at least 18 years old CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required; or within 60 days of hire Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire Previous experience working with diver populations preferred Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds Job Type: Part-Time Schedule: Monday through Friday Beforecare: 6:30am-9:00am and or Aftercare: 2:30 pm-5:30 pm (please let us know which you are interested in or list both when applying) Pay: $16.00 per hour.
