Position Overview: The Outbound Supervisor is responsible for providing the leadership and direct supervision over the warehouse associates assigned to their specific work team. As the Supervisor, you will be called upon to plan, oversee, coordinate, and direct the team’s work performance in accordance with the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to achieve the weekly work plans while ensuring stringent customer expectations are successfully met. You will be required to coordinate with other DCs Managers to plan efficient usage of the labor resources available and to make labor shifts as prioritizations within the operations change. You will be expected to assist the team by performing various work task duties in support of meeting the processing of customer orders correctly and on time. This role has an administration function which requires daily recording and reporting of work performance achievements verses team performance KPI’s. Responsibilities The Outbound Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising all outbound freight and outbound traffic functions for a 100,000+ square foot warehouse and distribution center. Responsible for the overall performance and achievement of the daily productivity requirements of your work area team. Acts as a team builder who plans, staffs, directs, and ensures the efficient operation of the team. Schedules staffing levels based on work need. Responsible for ensuring all SOPs are being followed and at that time metrics for each operation are being tracked and recorded. Provide training in new SOP’s with team or related topics. Responsible for ensuring that your employees are working in compliance with the company’s Code of Conduct. Take the appropriate steps to coach, council and discipline employee behaviors, attendance and work performance as required and directed in coordination and support from the HR Department. Hold pre-work daily meetings and with employees to communicate goals and objectives. Additional team meetings as needed. Provide daily oversight of the outbound order Pulling/Packing/Shipping teams including planning for the appropriate staffing levels necessary to achieve the daily work for intra-company transfers and customer sales channels Ensure all supporting paperwork has been prepared in advance and the work area is organized and ready to begin day-to-day operations. Ensure compliance by all team members that their work is being performed consistently to the standards as outlined by the work task SOPs. Ensure regular maintenance and safety checks on all operating equipment being used, including PMI logs, water levels, and any necessary lockouts. Ensure all employees should follow safety procedures, such as the use of safety harnesses or seat belts, when operating equipment. Responsible for performing a root cause failure analysis and recommending necessary process improvements to Senior Management Verify all outbound counts and identify any variances and communicate to the DC Operations Manager and other supporting areas if problems are noted. Shipments will include TL, LTL and parcel and will require specialized packing and labeling aligned with customer specific standards. Responsible for implementing and maintaining employee cross training efforts to ensure a flexible and competent workforce Ensure that all newly hired employees are receiving their 90-day performance reviews and that all regular full-time employees are receiving their annual review on time. Set a cleaning schedule for the shipping area and assign responsibilities for keeping the area clean and free from trash and debris. Other duties may be assigned as strategic initiatives evolve, commence, change or cease. Requirements Requirements A High School education with relevant experience and or any similar combination of education and experience. Displays leadership in a tactful, mature, and flexible manner. Strong leadership, administrative, problem-solving, critical thinking and reasoning skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, time management abilities, knowledge of general warehouse procedures. Requires computer literacy that includes proficiency in email, google documents, Sage100 ERP System, UPS World Ship, and FedEx Shipping Manager, and NetSuite. Minimum three years of direct warehouse receiving and/or shipping coordinator experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment with at least 3-10 employees Incumbent work hours/schedule and/or shift are subject to change based on business needs Exempt Employees receive a salary which is intended to cover all hours worked including hours in excess of 40 per week. When extra efforts are either infrequent or on an ongoing basis, it is expected that exempt Employees will consider this extra time during week and/or weekend part of their professional employee/company relationship & extend their efforts without additional compensation. Education and/or Work/Skill Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum one to three years direct warehouse experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment where small parcel and LTL/LT customer order processing occurs Previous supervisory experience managing 3-10 team members. Familiarity with distribution software systems highly preferred Equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills: Ability to read and write in English. Ability to effectively articulate and present information and respond to questions from Management in a professional manner.
