JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the yard, ensuring that all activities are conducted efficiently and safely. This role involves managing yard staff, coordinating equipment and materials, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Proven experience in a supervisory role within an outdoor yard
• Must have knowledge of landscape supply materials
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in an outdoor yard
• Ability to operate heavy machinery and/or forklifts
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks as needed.

• Supervise and lead yard staff to ensure productivity and adherence to safety protocols.
• Oversee the loading and unloading of materials and equipment, ensuring proper handling procedures are followed.
• Maintain an organized yard layout to optimize space and accessibility for vehicles and equipment.
• Conduct regular inspections of the yard to identify hazards or maintenance needs.
• Implement safety training programs for all staff members to promote a culture of safety.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
• Manage inventory levels, ensuring that supplies are adequately stocked while minimizing waste.
• Prepare reports on yard operations, including staff performance, inventory levels, and safety incidents.
