Our organization is seeking an assistant Educator for our Outdoor Day School Program. The program will run on Tuesdays from 9:15 to 3:00 pm weekly. We have a fall session from Sept - Dec.
Our Educators are often trained Ontario teachers, Early Childhood Educators or trained in Forest and Nature School Education. Our team of facilitators and educators have the attributes of what we want to see in our young people. They are caring, patient, creative, resilient and cooperative. They may have past experiences as teachers, parents, naturalists, community organizers, musicians, artists, students, farmers, storytellers, social workers and personal support workers. We love what makes you unique!
The ideal candidate would be excited to work outdoors most of the day facilitating and supporting children from the ages of 5-10 years of age. They would have knowledge about the natural world, confidence in leading innovative lessons for children and a willingness to learn the Ignited Learning Centre culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating the group of 5 - 7 year olds in Outdoor School - focused more on this age group
  • Work between the hours of 9-4 on Tuesdays
  • Create risk assessments and ensure safety of all participants
  • Work alongside fellow team members
  • Be confident in decision making
  • Communicating with parents and the Director
  • Be prepared to participate in all weather
  • Ensure programming materials are set up and discussed with Director
  • Ensure CPR and fire/tool safety training is up to date.

Contract length: 8 months
Pay: $18.88-$25.88 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Sharon, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
