Position Title: Outdoor School Assistant Instructor
Organization: The Pine Project
Location: Don Valley and Humber Valley areas, Toronto, Ontario
Position Type: Contract (22 September, 2025 - 7 June, 2026)
Hours per Week: Various positions ranging from 5-20 hours
Compensation: $17.60 - $20.50/hour, depending on experience
Reports to: Program Manager

Responsibilities

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Pine instructors deliver creative nature-based programs in Toronto’s parks and beyond. This position involves working outside with kids on a regular basis. Getting involved with Pine means becoming part of a community of people learning about the natural world around them and pushing the leading edge of change in education. Instructors work to embody respect, gratitude, awareness, life-long learning, and resilience, in alignment with our core values

KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the planning and delivery of The Pine Project’s nature connection programming;
  • Act in the best interest of all campers and staff in attendance
  • Demonstrate leadership through fostering positive, healthy relationships with all camp stakeholders, including staff, participants, caregivers and the public
  • Establish clear behavioural expectations, holding boundaries, and working with children, other staff, and leadership to address challenges
  • Attend staff training; familiarize yourself with and abide by all policies and procedures
  • Willingness to continuously learn relevant knowledge and skills

The following are preferred, but not mandatory. Many gain these experiences in introductory roles with us:

  • Outdoor and environmental education
  • Naturalist knowledge
  • Survival skills, wilderness experience
  • Valid class G driver’s licenc
