General Purpose of Job:
Provides day-to-day coordination of a pediatric outpatient services and is accountable to clinic administration. A clinical coordinator will support staff supervision, patient throughput, physician relations, patient safety, quality improvement, patient satisfaction, scheduling and supply management. Operates within the Driscoll Children’s Hospital mission, vision, and values.

Education:

  • Participates in teaching others/self-development.
  • Coaches staff in how to improve performance.
  • Develops goals annually with clinic leadership to address the specific departmental education needs of staff.
  • Pursue educational opportunities to grow professionally.
  • Periodically reviews own goals and revises according to changing needs.
  • Remain current in clinical and educational areas.

Human Resources:

  • Supports communication between all members of the health care team.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Establishes working relationships.
  • Promotes collaboration and shares responsibility for conflict resolution
  • Drafts staff evaluations for clinic leadership review
  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.

Quality Improvements:

  • Participates in meetings with the Director, Medical Director, and staff of unit.
  • Supports new processes to improve departmental functioning.
  • Seeks ways to improve processes and problem-solving.
  • Assumes a leadership role and acts as a “change agent” role model.
  • Maintains current knowledge of policies and best practices.

Department Oversight

  • Oversight of equipment and supplies.
  • Completes clinic work as assigned.
  • Documents adherence to departmental guidelines.
  • Adheres to all safety policies
  • Maintains professionalism i.e. conduct, appearance.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling including PTO approval.
  • Works in partnership with physicians to assure that patient care needs are met.
  • Assesses 1- Patient care processes 2-Employee relations 3-Physician satisfaction and shares that assessment with clinic leadership on a routine basis.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Successful completion of DCH Orientation Course, Code Management, HIS/LIS courses, medication orientation course within three months of hire, as available

Experience:

  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two years Charge Nurse experienc

Education:

  • Minimum of two years Charge Nurse experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations.

  • Current Texas RN license.
  • PALS within one year of hire date (will attend PALS, as available.)
  • CPR certification
  • National certification encouraged.
