Overview Outpatient Pharmacist Part-time, 8 hours per week Functions as a pharmacist as defined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy. Responsibilities Responsible for pharmacist operational and clinical functions including: o Creates and maintains patient profiles within the pharmacy system o Reviews medication profiles with each prescription fill o Ensures appropriate and adequate medication inventory of controlled and non-controlled medications o Verifies the accuracy of order entry and product dispensing o Ensures proper medication handling and storage o Prioritizes tasks to increase department efficiency o Counsels patients on new prescriptions and provides information about the drug product Maintains compliance with internal and external regulatory standards, including state of Iowa and federal regulations such as HIPPA, DNV, and OSHA. Supervises the work activities of pharmacy technicians. Oversees technical and support staff in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager. Qualifications Education: B.S. Degree in Pharmacy required. Doctor of Pharmacy preferred. Experience: Pharmacist experience of 3 years or more required. Retail Pharmacy experience preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons required. Current License to practice Pharmacy in the state of Iowa required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must demonstrate knowledge and skills required for area of assignment. Must exercise good judgement and maintain good interpersonal skills. Must be able to solve problems, think creatively, communicate effectively, and manage changing circumstances. Must have the ability to delegate effectively. Must demonstrate a high level of integrity.
