Description Position Summary: The PRN Outpatient Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care and clinical support across outpatient services, including specialty clinics with visiting providers, outpatient infusion services, and PRN coverage for Cardiac Rehabilitation. This role collaborates closely with physicians, cardiac rehab staff, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered care. The RN supports clinic and infusion operations, assists with procedures, monitors patient responses to treatment, and ensures accurate documentation while maintaining compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. Essential Job Functions: Outpatient Nursing Care Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care in the outpatient setting. Administer medications, injections, treatments per provider orders and organizational policy. Assist providers with outpatient procedures and examinations. Provide patient education related to treatments, procedures, medications, and follow-up care. Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately within scope and policy. Documents patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR). Cardiac Rehabilitation Performs cardiac rehabilitation patient assessments, monitors clinical status and exercises tolerance, and documents findings. Provides continuous cardiac and vital sign monitoring during rehabilitation sessions and responds to changes in patient condition. Educates patients on cardiac health, exercise safety, lifestyle modification, and risk factor management. Responds to medical emergencies as needed and follows established emergency and safety protocols. Clinic Operations & Patient Flow Support efficient patient flow to maintain clinic schedules. Prepare exam rooms and ensure supplies and equipment are available and functioning. Coordinate care with providers, nursing staff, and ancillary departments. Respond to patient questions and concerns in a professional and compassionate manner. Quality, Compliance & Safety Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards. Follow nursing policies, procedures, and clinical workflows. Participate in quality improvement activities as assigned. Support survey readiness and documentation compliance efforts. Collaboration & Support Work collaboratively with physicians, providers, and interdisciplinary staff. Provide coverage and assistance across outpatient services as assigned. Participate in ongoing training, competency validation, and professional development activities. Requirements Qualifications: Required Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current Nebraska RN license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and ACLS required or able to obtain within defined timeframe. Preferred Outpatient or ambulatory care nursing experience.
