Outpatient Specialty Center - Medical Assistant Basic Purpose of the Job The Medical Assistant is a certified, registered or certification-eligible professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. This individual provides safe, quality care to these patients in accordance to the standards established by the American Association of Medical Assistants. Minimum Education Certificate from a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program Completion of an associate or college education program in nursing or allied health from a verifiable educational institution Minimum Work Experience Two (2) years of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant preferred within the past five (5) years Required Licenses / Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) recognized through American Heart Association (AHA) Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Strong interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively communicate with all customers (patients, visitors, hospital staff and others). Ability to handle, diffuse and resolve difficult situations, including customer complaints. Team oriented to support GRMC team members as needed. Flexibility and resiliency to adapt to diverse patient dynamics. Highly motivated and goal-oriented to meet performance requirements, including ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritize worklists appropriately. Self-motivated and strong organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel. Self-starter, well organized, and detailed oriented. Physical ability to perform functional requirements as detailed. Proficient in electronic medical charting.
