ROLE
The Outreach and Communications Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting John Monash Science School (JMSS) by leading the coordination, communication, and promotion of JMSS science outreach programs and events. This role assists the Director of Outreach and JMSS teams to enhance JMSS¿s visibility, engagement, and partnerships with the Department of Education, local and regional schools and community stakeholders.
The Outreach and Communications Coordinator is responsible for the planning, administration and execution of programs such as the Regional Science Exchange (Rex) and other key outreach initiatives that provide unique educational opportunities for students and educators across Victoria. The role also supports the delivery of high-profile science events and exhibitions that showcase student achievement and innovation.
In addition to outreach coordination, the role coordinates the school¿s marketing and communications functions in consultation with the Business Manager and the Registrar and Partnerships Manager. This includes the design of promotional materials (utilising external consultants and designers where required), coordination of website updates, social media content management, media engagement, and the production of the JMSS publications such as the newsletter, new student prospectus and student handbooks. The Outreach and Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Principal, Director of Outreach, science leadership, and relevant administrative and teaching staff to ensure consistent messaging, strong stakeholder relationships, and a high standard of public representation of the school¿s programs and achievements.
This position requires a highly organised and proactive individual with outstanding communication, marketing, and interpersonal skills.
