HSE NURSE SALARY SCALES (AS RELEVANT TO EXPERIENCE)

The successful candidate will be part of a self-directed team, in a dynamic and fast-paced department. The role will collaborate with Outreach Planners and Support Workers to support the people who use our service, to ensure individuals are respected, treated with dignity and offered opportunities to live the life of their choice by playing a role in ensuring that the goals and objectives outlined in the Individual Support Plan are achieved under the national standards of New Directions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualification: A recognised validated university degree or equivalent qualification in Intellectual Disability Nursing, General Nursing, or Paediatric Nursing
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour particularly with people who have an intellectual disability
  • Experience of working with adults and children, preferably in an intellectual disability setting
  • Must have a full, valid driver’s licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Must provide proof of current NMBI registration OR proof of eligibility to register
  • Must be eligible to work in Ireland without sponsorship

    The successful candidate will be required to provide satisfactory references and Garda Vetting and overseas police vetting, where applicable. Salary is paid in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales.
Responsibilities
  • Efficiently and effectively deliver all aspects of the Staff Nurse role to the highest standards of support and care for Individuals using Outreach Services.
  • Collaborate with Outreach Leader to further develop this role to meet the nursing and support needs of the people who are supported by Outreach Team.
  • Participating in Assessment of Needs, developing nurse-led support plans, completing nursing assessments (SAM self-assessments)
  • Complete early screening using Dementia Screening Questionnaire for Individuals with Intellectual Disability (DSQIID)
  • Support each individual where appropriate with regards to taking responsibility for all aspects of their mental, physical, sexual and emotional well-being
  • Supporting some individuals in other areas of their life such as general home maintenance, building relationships, advocacy, financial support and work with the person’s team
  • Maintain effective communication with families/individual’s support network
  • Report all HIQA notifiable incidents
  • Travel between Kare locations for the purpose of meetings, training, etc, as required
