  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues and challenges faced by individuals and families experiencing homelessness
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong problem-solving and advocacy skills, with the ability to navigate complex systems and access support services
  • Commitment to working collaboratively within a team and across community networks
  • A valid driver’s licence

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Whitsunday Housing Co Ltd is seeking an experienced Outreach Worker to join our dedicated team in supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in the Whitsundays region. This full-time role is located in Whitsundays, Queensland, and will involve engaging with the local community to provide housing and support services.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Conduct outreach to identify and engage with individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness
  • Provide case management support, including needs assessments, goal setting, and coordination of appropriate services
  • Support clients to access stable and affordable housing, including referrals to transitional and long-term accommodation
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure they receive the necessary support from relevant agencies and services
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key community partners and stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of homelessness prevention and intervention strategies
  • Maintain detailed client records and prepare reports as required
  • Fixed full-time employment, contract ending 30th June 2026
