JOB DESCRIPTION – BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE

Founded in 2001, Allied Threaded Products (“ATP”) has grown to become Canada’s premier master distributor of industrial fasteners, gaskets and other related products. From our multiple Canadian facilities, we are able to provide exceptional service to customers nationwide (www.atpstuds.com).
As part of ATP’s continued growth, we are seeking to add a Business Development Representative to our team.
The Business Development Representative will source new opportunities and close sales by managing and negotiating with customers, researching, and generating leads, qualifying prospects, and funneling sales orders to the wider team. The successful candidate will be responsible for numerous customer service-related duties that include calling on customers in the assigned territory, building relationships with new and established customers, demonstrating products for customers, providing quotes, and referring orders to Inside Sales Representatives, and understanding market trends and competitors’ products and pricing.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years in outside sales, preferably in an industrial/oil & gas environment.
  • Proven sales experience with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Experience selling fasteners or similar industrial products is a highly valued attribute.
  • Skilled professional who builds customer relationships, follows up on leads, and maximizes sales opportunities.
  • Familiarity with different sales techniques, customer relationship and pipeline management.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and driven with an ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multitask and stay focused in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Computer proficiency, MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle, and an ability to travel and call on customers weekly in assigned territory.

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate customer needs and build productive and lasting relationships.
  • Maintain and expand upon the customer roster within the assigned territory.
  • Make telephone calls and conduct in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers.
  • Promote, sell, and secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
  • Identify prospects, ensure customer satisfaction, and constantly seek new opportunities to drive revenue and margin growth.
  • Research and source prospective customers, analyze information to determine potential and prioritize sales efforts.
  • Create and manage the value plan for existing customers: profile, share of total spend, and value-creation opportunities.
  • Develop sales strategies and models and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Develop clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers.
  • Meet personal and team sales targets.
  • Coordinate sales effort with inside sales, marketing, accounting, logistics, and supply chain management groups.
  • Update customers on order status and time to completion.
  • Assist with the forecasting of future sales and provide feedback to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
  • Maintain compliance with all ATP policies and procedures.
