POSITION SUMMARY:

We are growing… and hiring!!! We are currently recruiting an Oven Captain for our Large-Scale Production Facility (K2).
Working in the K2 Production Facility, reporting to the Bakeshop/Blends Supervisor, the Oven Captain plays an important role in producing high-quality baked goods in our large-scale production bakery. This position is responsible for setting up and operating proofers and ovens according to required specifications and temperatures, monitoring baking performance throughout the shift, and making any necessary adjustments to maintain product consistency. The Oven Captain also ensures all food safety and quality standards are met, and completes all required production and quality documentation accurately and on time.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Able to stand for extended periods and walk throughout the shift
  • Previous baking experience, ideally in a commercial or industrial setting
  • Experience operating commercial/industrial ovens and proofers
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Knowledge of food safety practices (training or certification considered an asset)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1 year of large-scale baking experience in the food industry (mandatory)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating proofers and ovens (mandatory)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • CSA-approved steel-toed boots are required
  • Early shift start time — public transportation is limited, so personal transportation is considered an asset
Responsibilities
  • Set up proofers and ovens to required specifications and temperatures
  • Monitor ovens throughout the baking process, making adjustments as necessary
  • Complete required paperwork to accurately track batch times
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures
  • Maintain compliance with all company health and safety standards
  • Follow and uphold all programs designed to ensure food safety
