JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a friendly, customer-focused Over-the-Counter (OTC) Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support the daily operations of the pharmacy by providing excellent customer service, advising on non-prescription medicines and health products, and ensuring the shop floor is well-maintained and compliant with pharmacy regulations in Ireland.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous retail or pharmacy experience (desirable).
  • Knowledge of OTC medicines and pharmacy regulations in Ireland (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training, such as the IPU Medicines Counter Assistant Course or equivalent.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed or currently undertaking the IPU Medicines Counter Assistant Course or similar.
  • Basic First Aid or Manual Handling certification (advantageous but not essential)

Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Advise customers on the appropriate use of OTC medicines and general health products in accordance with Irish pharmacy regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date product knowledge, including relevant training in-line with HPRA guidelines.
  • Operate the till and handle cash/card transactions accurately.
  • Stock shelves, rotate stock, and ensure all products are correctly priced and labelled.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the OTC area.
  • Assist with the receipt and storage of pharmacy stock deliveries.
  • Liaise with the pharmacist on duty for any customer queries outside your scope of training.
  • Comply with data protection, health and safety, and pharmacy practice standards.
