Description Job Summary: The CDL/OTR Driver is responsible for safely operating a commercial vehicle to transport freight across long distances, often between states or across the country. The driver must ensure timely deliveries, maintain accurate records, comply with DOT regulations, and always maintain a high level of safety and professionalism. Physical Requirements: · Operate tractor-trailers or other heavy-duty commercial vehicles over long routes (regional or nationwide). · Follow all federal, state, and local laws and company policies while on the road. · Assist in loading/unloading cargo as required. · Ensure cargo is properly secured using appropriate safety measures (e.g., straps, tarps, load locks). · Meet scheduled delivery times and communicate delays or issues promptly. · Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of truck and trailer. · Maintain accurate logs of hours, mileage, fuel, inspections, and delivery records using electronic logging devices (ELDs) or manual logs. · Ensure compliance with DOT hours-of-service regulations and other federal/state transportation rules. · Interact professionally with customers and delivery personnel at drop-off locations. · Obtain required signatures and paperwork for deliveries. · Report accidents, incidents, or cargo damage immediately to dispatch and safety personnel. · Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and emergency procedures Requirements & Qualifications · Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record. · 2 years of verifiable OTR driving experience (may vary by employer). · Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations. · Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and background check. · Strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills. · Willingness to be on the road for extended periods (e.g., 2–3 weeks at a time). Education & Experience: · 1–2 years of verifiable CDL driving experience preferred (may vary by company; some may hire new graduates). · Completion of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training program from an accredited driving school preferred. Physical Requirements: · Must be able to pass a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam, including vision and hearing standards. · Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly; occasional lifting of heavier items may be required depending on the cargo. · Physically able to respond to emergency situations, such as load securement or minor roadside repairs
