The Boeing Company is seeking an Overhead Accounting Team Lead (level 4) in Hazelwood, Missouri or Renton, Washington. As a finance and accounting professional, you will play a key role in guiding critical business decisions and innovative solutions for the world’s leading aerospace company.
As an Overhead Accountant Team Lead, you will lead the research, preparation, data validation, review, approval and reconciliation of complex financial statements and reports. Lead the analysis and mitigation of compliance risk/errors of a complex nature. Lead the analysis and interpretation of highly complex directives, policies and regulatory requirements to provide expert guidance on new and existing accounting issues including the writing, editing and approving of white papers on accounting issues. Lead the identification and communication of cost collection requirements and develop, implement and maintain cost accounting structure/systems, tools, data and related realignment activities. Lead the development and deployment of highly complex changes to accounting tools and processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 5+ years of accounting or finance experience
  • Experience using strong analytical skills and problem solving skills
  • Experience in team or project leadership
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with the Microsoft Excel application using: formulas, VLookups, pivot tables, charts, filters, and linking worksheets

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience utilizing and maintaining an accounting system
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills both virtually and in person
  • Comfortable working in a teaming environment and fielding questions from team members
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across other functions e.g. Accounting, Cost Policy, Rates, etc.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Required

Responsibilities
  • Participate and provide oversight in various audit engagements to support both internal and external auditors. These audits include but are not limited to MAAR-13, Incurred Cost Submittal, various Cost Accounting Standard (CAS) audits, Sox, Operational Excellence (OPEX) audits, etc.
  • Oversee the accounting change process for the team. This will include understanding accounting changes and how they impact the overhead accounting team and working with the team members to ensure allocations and other tables are updated to support the change.
  • Coordinate the efforts of the team to ensure that the group meets annual obligations such as YEOH (Year-End Overhead) Testing, and Year-end closing buy offs are completed.
  • Oversee the Incurred Cost Submittal (ICS) process for the services team (Corp/ET&T/ITSS). This may include working within the team and across various functions e.g. Cost Policy, Rates, etc. to ensure plans are in place to submit an adequate Claim to the government on time.
  • Support the journal review/approval and Blackline reconciliation process.
  • Review monthly closing packages for accuracy.
  • Provide other team lead related support such as:
  • Define requirements for activities
  • Delegate work and set priorities
  • Monitor assignments
  • Provide job specific technical coaching and mentoring, etc.
