Position Summary: The Overhead Operator is responsible for all duties associated with and related to the safe, efficient, and cost- effective operation of all Overhead Power Equipment including but not limited to Line Truck, Squirt Boom, Bucket Truck, Excavator and or backhoe experience preferred. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: · Must be proficient in operating excavator and or backhoe. · Must be proficient in setting up and operating line truck, bucket truck, or back yard machines. · Working knowledge of line work preferred. · Perform general site preparation, restoration and right of way maintenance duties. · Develop proficiency in safe operation of all equipment. · Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment. · Run power tools. · Perform hand digging. · Transport equipment to and from job sites. · Load and Unload Equipment. · Maintain material inventory on truck. · Active leadership skills as lead position while crew foreman is offsite. · Working knowledge of underground utilities. · Working knowledge of 811 Requirements and Procedures. Requirements Job Requirements & Qualifications: · High school diploma (preferred). · Knowledge of Utilities installation techniques and standards (preferred). · Must have a valid Class A CDL License (required). · Able to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time. · Able to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. · Able to lift, push, pull, carry objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. · Able to quickly move arms and legs and have excellent stamina. Physical Requirements: · Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more). · Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain. · Endurance to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. · Agility and flexibility to navigate construction sites and access work areas, including climbing ladders and scaffolding. · Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels. · Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day. · Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions. · Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
