Location: L'Arche Antigonish, Antigonish, Nova Scotia About the Role: The Overnight Assistant (Awake) plays a critical role in providing continuous support and supervision during nighttime hours to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of individuals under care. This position requires attentiveness and responsiveness to any needs or emergencies that may arise throughout the night, maintaining a secure and calm environment. The assistant will actively monitor the premises, assist with any immediate requirements, and document observations accurately to support ongoing care plans. This role is essential in bridging the gap between daytime services and overnight care, ensuring seamless support around the clock. Ultimately, the Overnight Assistant contributes to the overall quality of life and safety of those they serve by being a reliable and vigilant presence during overnight hours. Minimum Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent. * Ability to remain awake and attentive throughout the entire overnight shift. * Basic knowledge of safety and emergency response procedures. * Clear criminal background check/Vulnerable Sector Check as required by Canadian regulations. * Strong communication skills in English to effectively report and document overnight occurrences. Preferred Qualifications: * Previous experience in overnight care or support roles. * Certification in first aid and CPR. * Familiarity with working in healthcare, residential care, or community support settings. * Training in mental health or behavioral support. * Driver's license Responsibilities: * Provide continuous awake supervision and support throughout the overnight shift to ensure safety and well-being. * Respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies, health concerns, or behavioral needs that arise during the night. * Assist with personal care tasks as needed, including mobility support, medication reminders, or comfort measures. * Maintain detailed and accurate records of overnight activities, incidents, and observations to inform daytime staff and care plans. * Ensure the environment is secure, clean, and conducive to restful sleep while remaining alert to any changes or needs.
