Overnight Campus Security Officer Location: Lowell, MA Schedule: Full-Time | Overnight Shift (9pm-5am, WED-SUN or SAT-WED) Pay Rate: $19.60/hour Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Paid Time Off, Uniforms Provided, Employee Assistance Program The Overnight Campus Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of campus facilities, students, staff, and visitors during overnight hours. This role involves patrolling the campus, monitoring security systems, responding to incidents, and enforcing campus rules and regulations in a professional and respectful manner. Key Responsibilities: Patrol campus grounds, buildings, parking areas, and residence halls regularly on foot or by vehicle. Monitor security cameras and alarm systems for suspicious activity or breaches. Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, alarms, and calls for assistance. Enforce campus policies, procedures, and regulations, including access control after hours. Conduct security checks of doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are properly secured. Document incidents and complete detailed reports for supervisors and administration. Provide escort services for students, faculty, or staff as needed during late hours. Coordinate with local law enforcement or emergency services when necessary. Assist with fire drills, evacuations, and other safety-related procedures. Maintain a visible and approachable presence on campus to deter potential threats. Report maintenance or safety hazards to the appropriate departments. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to site. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening. Skills & Abilities: Strong observational, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to remain calm and act effectively in emergency situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable working independently during overnight hours. Proficient in basic computer use and report writing. Physical ability to patrol campus on foot, including climbing stairs and walking long distances. Ability to work in various weather conditions.
