The Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton Ottawa Downtown, is conveniently situated in downtown Ottawa, steps from Parliament Hill with LRT transportation at the hotel’s front door for easy access to many points of interest including festival venues. The hotel features 171 extended-stay guest rooms under the Homewood Suites by Hilton banner and 175 units providing short-stay accommodations under the Hilton Garden Inn banner and a total of 4,500 square feet of conference space, which includes our Tulip restaurant and bar, a pool and fitness facility.

We are currently seeking a full-time Overnight Hotel Houseperson to join our team through our management partnership with JDI Building Services.

GDI Building Services has been a specialized provider of public building maintenance services for over 90 years. Situated in 20 cities across Canada allows GDI to offer the best operational approach to service, which is proximity. This success is based on integrity, respect and care.
Houseperson duties include assisting in the housekeeping department to clean common areas, maintenance of the assigned premises, repairing and replacing malfunctioned units and furniture, responding on guest’s requests and inquiries, flexibility to multi-task, and coordinating to other personnel for concerns and guests’ assistance. Candidates must be available to work mornings/evenings/night and weekends.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Available mornings/evenings/nights/weekends
· Capable to work in dusty, damp, and dirty areas
· Capable of working alone or in a team
· Capable of moving and walking continuously during work hours
· Capable of completing repetitive tasks
· Capable of lifting (25 – 30 kg)
· Ability to work under pressure and manage time well

· Cleans hallways, public restrooms, meeting space, dining outlets, and other internal and public spaces of the hotel - may include guestrooms at times.
· Washes walls and ceiling, moves furniture’s and turn mattress
· Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floor
· Collects soiled linen for laundering
· Removes trash collected by room attendants
· Pickup clean linen and refill the par stock of linen on each floor pantry
· Deliver towels, cribs, cots and other items to the guest rooms on requests
· Perform duties of room attendant when necessary
· Assists housekeeping team with heavy lifting when cleaning of rooms
· Take up any tasks assigned by the supervisors as and when needed
