SUMMARY:

The Overnight Produce Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the stocking, rotation, and presentation of fresh produce during overnight hours. This role ensures that produce is fresh, well-stocked, properly rotated, and merchandised to company standards by the morning opening. The supervisor leads the overnight produce team, ensuring productivity, cleanliness, and food safety compliance.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in a produce department or grocery retail environment.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of produce handling, storage, and merchandising.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to lift heavy items (typically up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.

    Pay: $18.00-$18.50 per hour
    Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week

Responsibilities
  • Team Supervision
  • Lead, train, and supervise overnight produce staff.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to ensure productivity during the overnight shift.
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback or coaching as needed.
  • Stocking & Rotation
  • Ensure all produce is stocked and rotated using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
  • Remove and discard any expired, damaged, or poor-quality items.
  • Replenish displays to meet morning readiness and visual standards.
  • Merchandising
  • Set up produce displays and promotional setups as per planograms or store guidelines.
  • Maintain attractive and organized displays throughout the department.
  • Quality & Food Safety
  • Inspect produce for freshness, quality, and proper storage.
  • Ensure cold chain compliance and appropriate temperature checks are performed.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Inventory & Ordering Support
  • Assist with inventory counts and reporting.
  • Communicate stock shortages, overages, or concerns to the Produce Manager or Store Manager.
  • Cleanliness & Safety
  • Maintain cleanliness of the produce area, including coolers, prep areas, and displays.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned and stored properly.
  • Follow all safety protocols to prevent workplace accidents.
  • Communication
  • Communicate effectively with day-shift managers about work completed and any outstanding tasks.
  • Report any operational issues or maintenance needs.
