Position Title: Overnight Supervisor
Reports to: Director of Student Affairs

Salary/Wage Range: $65,628 - $105,561.00 Per Year (New employees are hired only up to midpoint depending on qualifications and experience.

SUMMARY

Serves as the primary school administrator who supervises all overnight staff. Works during the third shift (approximately midnight to early morning hours). Has decision-making authority on behalf of the School using independent judgment to respond to emergencies and other situations that may arise. Serves as a mentor for staff through modeling, demonstrating, and implementing best practice in supporting students’ total growth. Ensures the ongoing safety of staff and students. Supports various departments including but not limited to Student Life, Facilities/Security, and Transportation.   • Facilitates effective communication between the residential program and academic departments.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact and takes the lead in handling emergencies including but not limited to evacuations, responding to external emergencies that may affect the Santa Fe campus, and working with first responders.
  • Works with the Student Life Supervisor and Lead Residential Night Attendant to make sure there is adequate coverage of the overnight shift if there are absences.
  • Responsible for determining if overtime is needed and approving overtime.
  • Responsible for approving leave requests.
  • Responsible for directing, advising, training, coaching, and counseling subordinate staff and taking and recommending disciplinary action.
  • Responsible for the evaluation of subordinate staff.
  • Improves the quality and accountability of the school’s programs through supervision, performance evaluations, staff development activities and tracking results.
  • Assists management with labor relations and may serve on management’s negotiating team.
  • Makes frequent/routine checks of cottages.
  • Determines training needed and assists with the coordination of training for overnight staff.
  • Communicates regularly with other school administrators concerning staff and students as needed.
  • Writes detailed staff and/or student incident reports as appropriate.
  • Responds to medical emergencies (call 911, or on call staff to determine next steps).
  • Supports the administration of allowable over the counter medication as per policy and procedures.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for overnight communication with families.
  • Promotes effective and positive relationships with students, staff/faculty, parents, visitors and other community members.
  • Meets with parents as needed.
  • Interprets school policies to parents and staff.
  • Assists the Director of Student Affairs in managing the resources of the residential units.
  • Assists with keeping the Student Life manual current.
  • Follows the school’s discipline philosophy and utilizes appropriate techniques to support students’ growth and development.
  • Administers first aid or suicide risk assessments as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Facilities:

  • Maintains watch over live campus video surveillance as needed.
  • Do occasional campus facilities checks overnight.
  • Communicates with the facilities department as needed.
  • Accesses all campus buildings to assist with emergencies and first responders.
  • Calls 911 or other appropriate public entities as needed.
  • Does basic urgent functions such as shutting off water during leaks.
  • Communicates with on-call facilities staff or the facilities departments (security, housekeeping or maintenance) as needed.

Transportation:

  • Makes weather-related transportation decisions on behalf of the School and communicates with news and other outlets.
  • Works with the Transportation department in responding to early morning emergencies as needed.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for sub driver coverage as needed during early morning hours.

General:

  • Works closely with the Superintendent and Directors to perform ongoing assessment of personnel and overnight campus safety, security, and other critical matters.
  • Handles employee situations and works with HR to investigate employee matters.
  • Maintains confidentiality related to student situations and personnel matters.

POSITION-SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma required, Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • A minimum of three years in Student Life preferred.
  • A minimum of three to five years experience working with school-age students required
  • Current Driver’s License

Additional qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language
  • Defensive Driving Certification, Medical Assistant Certification, and Security related certification (obtained on the job)
