Beverage Manager Job Description
The Beverage Manager oversees the daily Bar and beverage program operations, and along with the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, completes the core of the senior FOH management team. The Beverage manager maintains revenue, profitability, brand identity and quality goals with a primary focus on the cocktail and wine programs in mind to ensure a successful and efficient restaurant operation. The Beverage manager curates the cocktail program with seasonality, core concept, and brand placement in mind to execute cocktails at a high standard with additional focus on efficiency and speed. The Beverage manager will maintain vendor relationships for Predalina. The Beverage manager will be primarily responsible for training of bar staff and maintaining brand standards on recipes and execution across all FOH service teams and will secondarily be responsible for assisting on the floor with service.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate Oxford Commons’ core values: be humble, do whatever it takes, stay curious, and create connections
  • Curate seasonal cocktail menus along menu and brand standards
  • Place weekly and bi-weekly orders to maintain inventory for service and private dining in line with physical and budget guidelines
  • Recruit, interview, hire and train employees
  • Provide timely performance reviews
  • Provide effective coaching and progressive discipline
  • Analyze sales reports along with General Manager
  • Monitor FOH operations with heavy emphasis on bar execution and service
  • Manage inventory and costs along with General Manager and Beverage Manager
  • Project future costs under guidance of the General Manager: liquor, packaging, small wares, equipment and maintenance
  • Ensure prompt and exemplary service
  • Schedule bar staff
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of FOH with emphasis on the bar
  • Follow health department sanitation standards
  • Mentor and coach both FOH management staff and service team
  • Establish positive relationships with the BOH team
  • Communicate and coordinate with other departments and members of the leadership team

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in similar positions with progressive advancement
  • Experience with seasonal cocktail program maintenance and fast craft cocktails
  • Sommelier certification a plus
  • Strong leadership, motivational, and people skills
  • Knowledge of restaurant standards and trends
  • Effective time management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and preparing and cooking food.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold.
