Fanny Bay Oysters is looking for innovative thinkers to help us maintain and grow our floating oyster nursery and farms around Okeover and Desolation Sound. Our crew is mainly based out of the Powell River/Lund area and works under our Farm Manger, Stacie Fawcett. This is a floating farm so you must be comfortable working on boats and floating platforms/rafts. Our farms in this area are undergoing updates as we develop new growing methods. We are looking for crew that are interested in help us create Canada’s largest sustainable oyster farm.
You are someone that:
-Enjoys working outside
-Works well in a team environment
-Has an interest in shellfish aquaculture
Tasks include, but are not limited to:
-Oyster floating pouch maintenance
-Repairing/building new floating systems
-Loading/splitting/harvesting oysters from floating pouches
-Grading and screening oysters
-Reporting oyster seed health numbers to farm management
Our crew generally works 7am - 3pm on the water, weather depending. Full time positions are available starting at $20/hr depending on experience and a comprehensive benefits package.
Extra skills that are not required but would be beneficial
-boat license
-small crane operating experience

We are vertically integrated with our hatcheries, nurseries, farms, processing, and distribution to maintain top quality standards and continue to lead our industry in innovate farming techniques. We operate in BC, WA, CA, and HW and are the largest producer of farmed shellfish in north America, and distribute both domestically and internationally. We farm four species of oysters, clams, geoduck, and mussels across our farms. Here in Canada we specialize in Pacific Oysters and Manila Clam aquaculture, and are known for our classic Fanny Bay oysters as well as our signature premium SunSeeker oysters.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
