Description
As the Brake Press Operator, you will be responsible for operating metalworking machines to shape and form steel into parts used in the manufacture of heavy equipment. To excel in this role, a commitment to ensuring high-quality products are produced efficiently and safely is required. Location: 1403 Dundas Street, Woodstock, ON Dedicated Day Shift: Day Shift: 7:00am – 3:30pm (Monday-Friday) Job Duties Read and interpret blueprint specifications to set-up brake presses of various sizes and thicknesses of materials to make precision bends Set up the brake press to produce quality parts and maintain press daily to keep it clean and in good working condition Follow safety protocols and wear prescribed personal protective equipment to prevent injuries Use various measuring instruments (e.g., Vernier, protractor, measuring tape, and micrometer) to ensure parts of defect-free, correctly shaped, and meet required dimensions and specifications Safely operate jib cranes to load and unload material from brake presses Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines such as shears, power presses, saws, plate rolls, drills, brakes, slitters, punch presses, computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment, and other hand tools to cut, bend, roll, ream, punch and drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products Work collaboratively with other production team members to meet production goals and timelines Skills and Experience Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays or other unexpected events Ability to read blueprints, diagrams and engineering drawings Ability to read and understand tape measure / protractor and other measuring tools Mathematical, mechanical, and technical skills are considered an asset Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve effectively and efficiently Physical requirements include standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds, and bending Qualifications Experience operating metalworking machines; previous brake press experience preferred
