MAINTENANCE

  • Participate in developing and implementing Divisional procedures for maintenance.
  • Provide support and guidance to technical teams in the Divisional Business Units.
  • To support Technical Manager with monitoring Division wide operating expenditures with specific focus on repair, docking and maintenance costs with a view to seeking a reduction in technical operational and consumable costs.
  • To oversee divisional PMS software records on a regular basis and to support BUs with implementation and DCR process at the corporate level.

QUALIFICATIION & EXPERIENCE

  • Class 1 Marine Engineer COC with relevant recent experience (appropriate Course qualifications, time as Class / H&M Surveyor or Ship Repair Manager).
  • Certificate of Competency qualification as Mechanical Engineer - Electromechanical and Industrial, or equivalent.
  • Business/management qualifications would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience as Technical Superintendent for a minimum of five years is essential.
  • Previous experience on commercial vessels over 500 GRT is essential – ideally harbour tugs, AHTS and offshore vessels but deep sea will also be considered due to the broader approach of the Division.
  • Ability to travel at short notice to augment other company activities and provide coverage as required.
  • Knowledge of ISPS, ISM, Flag State and Classifications Society procedures and regulations.
  • Practical in-depth knowledge of PMS/ERP software used in marine industries. Knowledge of ABS NS is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is essential Knowledge in other MS Office package such as Power Point and Project would be an advantage.
  • People management skills preferably gained from working in a multicultural environment.
  • Proven track record in intermediate and special dry dockings, ship repair, mobilizations, new build projects and in-water repairs.
  • Strong Commercial awareness and ability to interact with and satisfy client requirements.
  • Budget planning and routine budget reporting processes.

Responsibilities

Based at the Corporate Office in Dubai, the Corporate Technical Superintendent – Port Services is responsible for overseeing Technical Projects and Dry Dockings as required. Under the guidance of the Technical Manager to monitor the Division’s Business Units on all technical matters and to coordinate major repairs. The position is also responsible for monitoring BU compliance with standardized technical procedures including docking repairs, refits and technical projects in the Division. Under guidance of Technical Manager, the position is responsible for working with Business Unit General Managers and Business Unit Technical Heads to monitor technical systems’ implementations across the Division and/ or any other technical tasks within the Division’s responsibility, where deemed necessary, including a focal point for all matters related to PMS software and interconnection with other users in the group ERP (enterprise resource planning) system and responsible for handling relevant process data. The position will liaise with the Divisional Technical & Operations Manager and Corporate Senior Coordinator as required.
Whilst this role is based at P&O Maritime Logistics Corporate office in Dubai the role will involve worldwide travel, which may be required at short notice, and may involve extended periods (up to 6-7 months’ time in a calendar year with some single assignments of around 2-3 months overseas.)
