As one of the leading private client teams in the Midlands, our compassionate and knowledgeable specialists provide advice and support spanning all aspects of wills, probate, tax and trusts.
Due to continued successes, we are now looking to hire an additional PA/Legal Secretary to join our busy team and support the fee earners with a range of administrative tasks for our client base.
The PA/Legal Secretary will play a vital role is ensuring we deliver outstanding levels of service to our clients, and a sharp eye for detail is required at all times.
The role is fast-paced with high volumes of work, supporting various lawyers and their high net worth clients.
The role is full time, office based at our offices at Pride Park in Derby, Monday to Friday 08:45 to 17:00, 36.25 hours per week.
Reporting to the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Experience in a PA/Legal Secretary role in a legal setting.
  • Excellent client relationship skills.
  • Experience of audio typing or similar.
  • Have a sound knowledge of IT systems and processes, such as the Microsoft suite.
  • Be a hard-working and highly-motivated individual with the ability to work cohesively as part of a larger team
Responsibilities
  • Take instructions from clients in relation to the drafting of wills, this will initially be via a telephone enquiry through to face-to-face meetings, video calls via Zoom/Teams/FaceTime/WhatsApp/Skype and home visits.
  • Advising on most appropriate will and lasting power of attorney.
  • Drafting wills and ancillary documents and correspondence.
  • Preparing and registering LPAs.
  • Telephone enquiries.
  • Progressing matters by communicating where necessary with clients.
  • Closing files and registering documents.
  • Manage time each week to allow for client meetings and the office-based preparation of wills following receipt of client instructions.
  • Work with the wider Wills team to ensure that all requests are carried out in a timely manner and in accordance with the department SLAs.
  • Liaise with the administration team to ensure the case management system and will bank is kept up to date.
  • Ensure financial targets are met.
  • Ensure that all firm-wide and departmental SLAs and procedures are followed.
