About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Package Manager to join our outstanding Major Projects team to work at our Old Oak Common development in London – join us and be part of the largest construction project in the UK.
HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.
Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide highspeed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.

What you’ll be doing

  • Ensuring a safe, healthy, environmentally sound delivery of all works entrusted.
  • Day-to-day management of package, leading a team of two APMs
  • Working with the package design management team and the subcontractor to deliver the subcontract design portion of the works.
  • Working with the package QS to issue communications to the subcontractor to manage the contract
  • Managing package of works, tracking subcontractors’ deliverables
  • Managing Activity Readiness certification
  • Documentation management through approval process and liaison with BBVS wider team
  • Reviewing subcontractors’ performance, proposing improvement opportunities
  • Liaising between subcontractor to resolve escalated clashes in day-to-day management
  • Ensure progress of works entrusted is accurately reported and documented.
  • Ensure numbers of subcontractor’s operatives and plant active and inactive on site is accurately reported and documented
