Description Position: Packaging & Forklift Operator 2nd Shift – Mill Creek Brewery, Pottsville, PA Reports To: Packaging Lead/Packaging Supervisor Work Schedule: Full Time, Weekly schedule ranges from Mon-Wed to Mon-Fri 5pm-5am. Occasional weekend work may be required, as well as occasional flex start time at 1pm. Summary: Join our family and share the story of D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. We are seeking a strong champion of our company and our brands. We are looking for a 2nd Shift Packaging Operator in our Mill Creek Brewery. The purpose of the position is to effectively, efficiently, and safely meet all job requirements, abilities, accountabilities, and goals as directed by the Packaging Lead and Packaging Supervisor. Job Responsibilities: Operate assigned forklift, packaging, and keg line machinery as instructed by the Packaging Lead or Packaging Supervisor. Ensure packaging materials are loaded, functioning, and discharged properly to prevent stops and reduce line loss and eliminate downtime. Perform Operator-Based Maintenance as required. Complete lubrication requirements for the assigned machinery and communicate with the Lead and/or Supervisor. Complete minor maintenance of any faults that cannot be resolved. Responsible for balancing and placing empty materials on conveyor to keep equipment operating. Maintain adequate supply of materials to operate the machinery efficiently. Responsible for watching the conveyor systems for back-ups or disruptions and efficient operation. Correct or report problems as they occur. Remove broken glass, bottles, or debris from empty cartons where applicable. Inspect and remove any defective material from the line as necessary. Inspect glass, cans, cartons, trays, pallets, etc. for proper placement. Observe line for down bottles and/or cans; remove damaged bottles/cans or reposition bottles/cans as necessary. Assist where needed to keep equipment operating efficiently. Record the necessary production and quality information on reports as required. Ability to manually load and unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms etc., sign and date all paperwork, log/receive packaging materials in Yuengling’s ERP computer database. Load and unload products onto and off trucks without error. Load and properly rotate products on trucks and trailers in a timely manner. Operate Keg Line robots and machinery. Maintain Keg Line Empty Keg Loading/Full Keg Removal & Storage. Complete daily forklift safety inspection sheet. Report any and all workplace hazards or unsafe conditions immediately to the Shift Lead and/or Packaging Manager. Maintain a work area that is neat and orderly. Responsible for cleaning up during and at the end of each shift. Comply with all OSHA, GMP, and FSMA requirements. Requirements Job Tasks and Requirements: Safety First – Understand safety requirements and use appropriate PPE for tasks. Skill, experience, licenses, and certifications are typically necessary to meet the demands of this type of position. Experience in a manufacturing environment and a sense of urgency to get the job done. Ability to follow verbal directions accurately. Demonstrate clear communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Collaborate well within a team setting. Demonstrate basic mechanical understanding and problem solving. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as requested, directed, or assigned by Management. Physical Demands: Ability to move throughout the facility. Ascend/descend structure to operate machinery on the production line. Ability to lift 60 lbs. Required Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Skill, experience, licenses, and certifications necessary to meet the demands of this type of position.
