Area Lead – Label Room

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Area Lead, a pivotal member of the Packaging Team, plays a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing efficiencies within the Label Room. They are knowledgeable in all facets of label printing including but not limited to inventory, troubleshooting of equipment and provincial print requirements. The Area Lead for the print room will ensure accountability for print quality and quantity of labels, investigations of issues and root cause analysis, implementing best practices, and actively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires proactive problem-solving, effective communication, and a commitment to optimizing processes for overall team success.

Qualifications

  • Experience with label printing equipment, including pouch and accent printers
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to maintain smooth equipment operation
  • Knowledge of label inventory management and provincial print requirements
  • Proficient in ERP systems navigation and usage
  • Ability to identify production bottlenecks and implement effective solutions
  • Experience following and managing production schedules
  • Understanding of compliance requirements under the Cannabis Act
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing employees and resolving minor conflicts
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration across departments
  • Skilled in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to train team members on equipment and processes
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on print quality and quantity assurance
  • Flexible and willing to take on additional duties as assigne
Responsibilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of print equipment including pouch and accent printer, training and ability to troubleshoot to keep equipment running smoothly.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions
  • Understanding of EPR systems and proper navigation of the system.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure label inventory and accuracy.
  • Follow the production schedule closely.
  • Proactively managing employees, process or equipment issues, including minor conflict and escalating up as required.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to address challenges and facilitate smooth operations.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulations under the Cannabis Act to ensure safe and legal production practices
  • Escalate issues and actively participate in finding and implementing solutions to streamline processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
